This already beautiful garden was in desperate need of a new, extended patio seating area. Sitting in a rustic, mature setting it was decided the new hardscaping would be as natural as possible using local materials some of which already existed on site.
The design (can be seen at the bottom of this page) incorporates two seating areas – a solid paved lower patio next to the house and a softer paved and gravel raised patio surrounded by planting beds. Large slabs of Pennsylvania Bluestone create steps leading from one area to another.
All of the walls were constructed using stone already on site and for the most part contained little mortar. Larger pieces of stone were used to create interesting features in the wall such as seats and new bed areas were created which contained a variety of Evergreen Shrubs and perennials.
